Police seeking driver who evaded police in Glenorchy area today
Police are currently in the Chigwell area searching for a man who stole a vehicle and evaded police in the Glenorchy area today.
Around 1pm this afternoon a white van (registration DO2177) was driving erratically and evaded police in the Glenorchy area.
At around 2pm police were attending a single vehicle crash on Grass Tree Hill Road at Risdon when the van drove through the crash scene at speed and attempted to hit a police officer performing point duty.
The van sped from the scene and came to a stop on the Tasman Highway at Sorell where all three occupants fled from the vehicle.
Two of the occupants were located in the vicinity of the van and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The third occupant stole a green coloured Mazda BT50 (registration A24UX) and drove dangerously from Sorell along the Tasman Highway, across the Tasman Bridge, through to Glenorchy, and came to a stop on Arunta Crescent in Chigwell where the man fled the scene on foot.
Just prior to stopping in Arunta Crescent the Mazda BT50 crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Derwent Park Road and Gormanston Road and drove from the scene.
Police are currently searching for the driver in the Chigwell area. He is described as being 35-years-old, 182cms tall with short brown hair, last wearing a white coloured t-shirt and black coloured trackpants.
