Police seek public sightings of Nissan Pulsar driving erratically before it evaded police and hit a police officer in Risdon Vale
Police are seeking public sightings of a red Nissan Pulsar travelling between Brighton and Risdon Vale today before it struck a police officer and was intercepted on the East Derwent Highway.
The red Nissan Pulsar, registration DM1145, was reported to police as stolen from Sorell overnight.
Around 12noon today police observed the stolen Pulsar being driven in the Brighton area. The vehicle failed to stop for police.
Around 12.15pm, police attempted to intercept the Pulsar on the East Derwent Highway with a vehicle immobilisation device (road spikes). The road spikes punctured the tyre of the car but the driver continued for a short distance before crashing into a white ute.
Before crashing into the ute the stolen Pulsar struck a 33-year-old male police officer. He sustained injuries to his arm, leg and hip and was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital as a precaution, and has since been released.
Two males exited the Pulsar and attempted to run from the scene. The males aged 27 and 16 were arrested near the Grasstree Hill Road roundabout and remain in police custody whilst investigations continue.
Anyone who has dash cam or smart phone vision of the Pulsar today, or the crash/intercept, is asked to upload it to police via the Axon community portal:
