Police search for man after wounding incident

Police are continuing to search the Launceston area for a man after an alleged wounding incident in Hobart Road, Kings Meadows, about 1.15pm today.

 

The alleged offender is described as being in his late 40s, about 172cm tall, with grey/white receding hair. He is believed to be wearing a bright green Everlast top.

 

Detective Inspector Craig Fox said that the incident occurred at a business premises in Kings Meadows, where a man received non life threatening injuries to his face and hands following an altercation with another man.

 

“An edged weapon was recovered from the scene. Early investigations indicate that the two people were not known to each other,” Detective Inspector Fox said.

 

“Police believe the alleged offender left the scene and travelled to the LGH with an injured hand about 2pm. He left without receiving treatment.

 

“We are following a very specific line of inquiry. A number of police are now currently searching a number of areas in the Launceston area.

 

“Business owners in the Kings Meadows area are asked to check their CCTV to see if a man matching that description was in the vicinity at the time.”
