Police Search and Rescue respond to two more bushwalking incidents
Tasmania Police’s Search and Rescue team has been called out to two more bushwalking incidents today.
At 10.30am today, Tasmania Police Search and Rescue was notified of an overdue walker at South Cape Rivulet region on the South Coast walking track.
The 21 year old man from NSW was walking with friends on Monday 21 November at 12pm when he slowed down due to sore knees.
His friends notified police after he failed to arrive at an agreed location and time.
The man was wearing appropriate bushwalking clothes, carrying food and water as well as a tarp, sleeping bag and sleeping mat.
A land party is being in the process of being organised. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter will drop the search party into the area later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Search and Rescue is also responding to an EPIRB activation on Federation Peak in the State’s south.
An EPIRB was activated at 2.25pm today, with the device believed to be carried by a group of four people.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been activated and is currently searching for the walkers.
More information will be provided once it becomes available.
