Police Recruits work for Foodbank
Recruit Course 1 will spend time tomorrow morning packing some Christmas cheer for Tasmanians who need a little extra help this Christmas season.
Foodbank Tasmania is preparing more than 3,000 Christmas grocery hampers for distribution this year, and there’s plenty of work to do with only 15 sleeps to go.
“We appreciate the help of the recruits, and we’re always looking for volunteers,” said Foodbank Tasmania General Manager, Edward Gauden.
“This is an opportunity for the recruits to help out some of the members of the community they’ll serve, ahead of their graduation in a few weeks,” said Course Director, Sergeant Rod Stacey.
The recruits will help pack some of the 1,000 Christmas cakes purchased by Foodbank, along with candy canes and other Christmas items.
“We’ve had some very generous donations, but Foodbank would love to receive more donations of food in the next few weeks. One busy woman had the great idea of ordering her donation online through a supermarket and had it delivered to us,” said Mr Gauden.
