Police receive Commissioner’s Commendations
Police officers are being recognised for their ethical and diligent service at special ceremonies around the State over the next week.
Nine Commissioner’s Commendations will be presented in relation to the June 2016 Floods Sgt Damian Bidgood, Senior Constable Josh Peach, Senior Constable Chris Williams, retired Sgt Paul Steane, paramedics David Brown, Peter Hampton and Peter Schwarz, and helicopter pilots Captain Chris Fahey and Captain Yass Kuwada).
Six police officers (Commander Tim Dooley, Det Senior Constable Mark Brazendale, Det Constable Craig Fry, Det Sgt David Gill, Det Inspector Michael Smith and Det Inspector Craig Joel on behalf of the Glenorchy CIB office) will receive Commissioner’s Commendations in relation to the Investigation into the death of Jodie Eaton in 2014.
Det Constable Nick Grubb will receive a Commissioner’s Commendation for “engagement in protracted negotiations and forcing entry into a room where a person with mental illness had caused serious injury, securing the knife and attending to the serious injury” at Honeywood.
A total of 222 Current and retired Police, Fire and Emergency Management Staff will be recognised for a combination of Commissioners Medal and Award, National Police Service Medal, and National Medals and clasps.
Police Commissioner Darren Hine paid tribute to the recipients, saying that the medals and awards were issued to members who have demonstrated a consistently high standard of work performance, along with demonstration of unequivocally high standards of personal and professional conduct.

“These awards are a chance for me to say thank you for the work that our police officers and State Service employees do. These people really help us to serve the community by providing quality policing and emergency management services to help keep us safe,” Commissioner Hine said.
