Statement from Acting Assistant Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Glenn Frame:

“A police officer serving at Wynyard station will be proceeded against by summons for assault and driving offences.

“The officer has been suspended from duty until the matters are resolved.

“The Internal Investigation Unit completed an investigation into the matter, and referred the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review.

“The alleged incident occurred while the officer was on duty in Wynyard on January 1, 2011.

“The officer was suspended by the Commissioner on January 6.”
