Police officer driving offence

A Constable from the Southern Police District has been charged with driving under the influence of what are believed to be prescribed medications.

The 31 year old officer was intercepted by police last Friday afternoon because of the manner of his driving.

He was off duty and was driving a private vehicle.

He has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of drugs and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday 23 March 2015.

The officer will be assigned to non-operational duties while the matter is further investigated by the Professional Standards Command.
