Police numbers

Planning is underway by the Department of Police and Emergency Management to achieve an increase in police numbers to 1,228. 

This work involves the allocation of the additional resources, including to frontline policing, a Serious and Organised Crime capability and Public Order response.

Numbers will receive a boost in May, when the current Recruit Course graduates.  The 19 graduates from this course will bring Tasmania Police numbers to 1,121.  Another Recruit Course is currently scheduled to begin in July and planning is underway for a second course starting this year.
