Police locate driver sought over evade incident in Glenorchy
Police are currently in the Chigwell area searching for a man who stole a vehicle and evaded police in the Glenorchy area today.
Around 1pm this afternoon a white Toyota Hatch (registration DO2177) was driving erratically and evaded police in the Glenorchy area.
At around 2pm police were attending a single vehicle crash on Grass Tree Hill Road at Risdon when the hatch drove through the crash scene at speed and attempted to hit a police officer performing point duty.
The hatch sped from the scene and came to a stop on the Tasman Highway at Sorell where all three occupants fled from the vehicle.
Two of the occupants were located in the vicinity of the hatch and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
The third occupant stole a green coloured Mazda BT50 (registration A24UX) and drove dangerously from Sorell along the Tasman Highway, across the Tasman Bridge, through to Glenorchy, and came to a stop on Arunta Crescent in Chigwell where the man fled the scene on foot.
Just prior to stopping in Arunta Crescent the Mazda BT50 crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Derwent Park Road and Gormanston Road and drove from the scene.
After an extensive search of the area, Police have arrested a third male in relation to driving the BT50.
Anyone who saw either the hatch or Mazda driving dangerously today is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
