Police, Liquor and Gaming join forces on Hobart waterfront
Tasmania Police and the Liquor and Gaming branch joined forces at Hobart’s waterfront last night in a collaborative effort aimed at keeping revellers safe.
Inspector John Toohey said the operation was about ensuring that licensed venues and individuals comply with responsible service and consumption of alcohol regulations.
“We conducted 26 inspections, and six premises were issued infringement notices by police,” he said.
“These infringements were for offences including breaching licence conditions, failing to display licences or restricted signage, and displaying expired licences.”
“The joint operation also featured an educational component, where officials engaged with proprietors, staff, and patrons to raise awareness about responsible alcohol service and consumption practices,” he said.
“We were pleased most establishments were found to be in compliance with regulations, reflecting a positive trend in responsible alcohol service.”
“Tasmania Police is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community through operations like this.”
“We want to highlight the shared responsibility that individuals and authorities have to help us foster a safe and enjoyable social environment.”
“By working together, we can maintain an environment where everyone can enjoy the social scene that Hobart has to offer, safely and responsibly.
Further operations are planned in the lead up to the festive season.
