Police investigations continue into Waverley assault

Launceston CIB is continuing its investigation into the serious assault at Waverley early yesterday morning which has left a 48 year old Prospect man in hospital in intensive care.

 

Police divers are preparing to search the lake in Waverley this morning in which the victim’s 1984 yellow single cab Mazda was recovered from yesterday afternoon.

 

Detective Inspector Philippa Burk said that police divers were searching for any property belonging to the victim, or a potential weapon used in the assault.

 

“Police continue to seek assistance from any members of the public who may have seen this utility Tuesday evening between 10pm until 12.30am yesterday morning. In particular, whether the utility may have been seen in the suburbs of Prospect, West Launceston, Invermay and Waverley,” Detective Inspector Philippa Burk said.

 

“Police encourage members of the public to continue to provide them with any information to assist this investigation. Police would again thank and commend the Launceston public for their assistance with information so far.”
