Police are investigating a suspicious house fire on Simpson Street in Somerset early this morning.

Around 3.25am emergency services responded to the fire which had fully engulfed the house.

Tasmania Fire Service extinguished the fire with the house completely destroyed.

Fire Scene Investigators determined the fire was suspicious and are currently undertaking a detailed examination of the scene with Tasmania Police Forensic Services and member of Burnie Criminal Investigation Branch.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has surveillance or CCTV footage in and around the Somerset area from around 2.50am to 3.30am, in particular any sighting of vehicles seen in the area at the time.
