Police investigating suspicious fire in Berriedale

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Berriedale just after midnight this morning which completely destroyed a house on Myella Drive.

Around 12:05am residents nearby observed that the house was well alight and attempted to extinguish the fire prior to Tasmania Fire Service attending and extinguishing the fire. The house is a conjoined unit and was completely destroyed, with damage estimated at around $200,000. As a result, the conjoining unit was impacted by smoke damage which has been estimated at around $15,000.

Police are investigating the fire which has been deemed suspicious.
