Police investigating series of vehicle burglaries, Eastern Shore
Police are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries from Hobart’s eastern shore area.
Detective Sergeant Joshua Wood said Bellerive CIB are calling on the community for information and assistance.
“We have had numerous stolen vehicles reported from the Bellerive, Howrah, Rokeby and Oakdowns areas in March.”
“Some of the stolen cars have been left unlocked, or keys have been stolen from houses which have been left unlocked.”
“While most of the vehicles have been recovered intact, some have been set alight and others remain unaccounted for,” he said.
“This morning three vehicles were stolen from a residence on Victoria Esplanade, Bellerive.”
“Those responsible have forced a door open and stolen three sets of car keys.”
“The stolen cars include a Mercedes 205 C Class which was recovered this morning.”
“Police are still looking for the other vehicles, a grey 2014 Volkswagen Polo Hatch (registration D37YO) and a white 2020 Mercedes X Class Dual Cab Utility (registration J93EG) which was fitted with an aftermarket James Baroud rooftop tent.”
“We’re urging anyone with information about the stolen vehicles or suspicious activity in the area should contact Bellerive CIB on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers at crimestopperstas.com.au.”
“You can stay anonymous.”
“We’re also urging people to be vigilant and to make sure their vehicle and properties are secure, as thieves are often opportunistic.”
“Locking up and taking extra care, such as having security systems or cameras, can make a significant difference in preventing crime.”
