Police are investigating a firearms incident reported to have occurred in Mayfield last night. 

Around 7.30pm, police received reports of a firearm discharged in the Hargrave Crescent area. 

A witness reported to police they had seen a man running from bushland, and another man discharged a firearm in his direction. 

Witnesses further reported the alleged offender left the area in a black 4wd utililty, heading towards Rocherlea on the fire trail. It was reported there were several other men in the company of the alleged offender, potentially on motorbikes.  

Police are investigating the incident, including identifying and locating the victim and offender.
