Police investigating dog attack in Devonport

Police are investigating an incident in Devonport last night where a child received serious injuries after being attacked by a dog. 

Around 7.40pm, a 7 year old girl visiting a house on Nicholls Street was attacked by a dog which belonged to the residents of the property. 

The girl was transported by Ambulance to the Launceston General Hospital with serious and substantial injuries to her face, head, neck and jaw.  

Police attended the residence last night where the incident occurred. The dog had been removed from the property and the owner refused to disclose its location to police. 

Police will be conducting further enquiries with the dog owner and Council today to locate the dog.
