Police investigating deliberately lit unit fires at Lutana
Police are investigating after a unit on Risdon Road, Lutana was deliberately set alight on two occasions, last night and this morning.
Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were called to the property shortly before 9pm yesterday, after a neighbour heard a smoke alarm sounding.
Arriving to find the structure well alight, crews were able to contain the fire to the front of the unit with significant smoke damage occurring to the living room and kitchen areas.
Fire investigators determined the fire was deliberately lit.
About 7am today, police and fire crews were called to a second fire at the property after neighbours again raised the alarm.
Initial investigations indicate that the second fire was also deliberately lit and scene examinations are continuing this morning.
Anyone with information in relation to the fire or suspicious activity in the area last night or this morning is asked to contact Glenorchy CIB on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
