Police are investigating the burglary of a Midway Point takeaway store overnight.

A significant number of cigarette packets were stolen from the Midway Point Store and Takeaway on Penna Road about 3:35am.

The two offenders used force to gain entry to the store before stealing about $20,000 worth of cigarettes.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the Midway Point area in the early hours of this morning, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
