Police investigate wire over bike track

Glenorchy Police are investigating an incident which occurred on the Glenorchy Bike Track, near the intersection with Riverway Road at approximately 7pm last night, Thursday 19 July 2012.

A 49 year old male cyclist was very fortunate to avoid serious injury following unknown persons committing a senseless act of suspending a length of wire mesh across the bike track.  The cyclist struck the wire, resulting in him being knocked from his bike, falling to the pathway, sustaining a number of injuries necessitating medical treatment.

Police are concerned that someone would commit such an irresponsible act, clearly targeted at cyclists and pedestrians.  Any person who has information that could assist police in their investigation is invited to contact Glenorchy Police on 62 302777, or through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
