Police are investigating after a report of a disturbance in Mayfield and a shot being fired into the air.

Launceston Police responded to a neighbourhood dispute in Lawson Street, Mayfield at approximately 7:00pm last night. Upon arrival, police located two damaged houses and numerous people in the street.

Investigations were conducted and witness reports indicate that after the damage was caused to a house, a single shot was discharged from a shotgun into the air.

No person was threatened with the firearm or any member of the public placed at risk. The involved parties in the dispute are known to each other.

Police conducted searches of people and residences at the time however the firearm was not located.
