Police are investigating a deliberately lit fire at Aussie Waste Management in Mornington early this morning which destroyed four garbage trucks with an estimated value of around $500,000.

The trucks were inside a secure compound and may have been burning for a few hours prior to the fire being discovered around 4:45am.

A fire scene examination conducted by the Tasmania Fire Service determined the cause of the fire was deliberately lit.
