Police helicopter rescues
At approximately 6:00pm on Saturday 6 November, Ambulance Tasmania tasked the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter to attend the Melton Mowbray Rodeo in relation to a 20 year old Rhyndaston man who was suffering from a suspected spinal injury. The injury was not as a result of competing in the rodeo and the man was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Immediately after this incident at 7:30pm the helicopter was sent to St. Helens to transfer a 50 year old St. Mary’s man who was suffering from a serious medical condition. This man was flown to the Launceston General Hospital.
After completing this second job the helicopter attended the Northwest Regional Hospital in Burnie at midnight to transfer an 18 year old male suffering a serious head injury. The injury was sustained during a motocross racing incident earlier in the day. This man was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital under the supervision of a doctor.
