Police encourage AFL Grand Final viewers to be responsible
Tasmania Police encourage footy fans to celebrate responsibly if they’re planning on having a few drinks while watching the AFL Grand Final this weekend.
“Police urge anyone celebrating the AFL Grand Final this Saturday to do so responsibly, and if consuming alcohol, have a plan to get home safely,” said Commander Jason Elmer.
“We know that driving under the influence is one of the Fatal Five contributing factors to fatal and serious crashes on our road.
“I urge people to never get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking or if you’ve taken drugs, you’ll be putting more than just your life on the line.
“Police will be patrolling the roads and entertainment precincts to ensure everyone is safe.”
“We want everyone to enjoy their Grand Final day celebrations and get home safely.”
