Devonport Police have seized three vehicles and charged three drivers, including a first year provisional driver, with hooning offences.
Acting Inspector Martin Parker said that police were out in force targeting hooning driver behaviour over the weekend.
“A 17-year-old P-Plater from Devonport had his vehicle seized on Friday night after being observed driving in a reckless manner.”
“His vehicle has been seized for a period of 28 days.”
“The operation on Friday night also resulted in a number of other drivers being issued defect notices and being charged with driving while unlicensed, driving an unregistered vehicle and for failing to carry a licence.”
“On Saturday night, a 20-year-old man from West Ulverstone had his vehicle seized for a period of 28 days as well as being charged with hooning offences and driving whilst on a suspended licence.”
“A 26-year-old man from Westbury also had his vehicle seized for a period of 90 days after he was caught hooning and causing considerable damage to Meercroft Park Soccer Grounds.”
“Driving behaviour such as hooning is illegal, dangerous and interrupts the peace and quiet of citizens and put’s people’s lives at risk of being involved in a serious crash.
“We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and offenders can expect to be arrested and have their vehicle clamped or seized and confiscated,” warned A/Inspector Parker.
