Just before 8:30pm on Sunday, 2 October 2016, police were called to a disturbance in Bateman Court, Claremont.

Upon arrival, and subsequent to information provided from people in the area, police located a 24 year old woman armed with a chainsaw on Branscombe Road.

The woman started the chainsaw and was verbally abusive and threatening towards police.

She repeatedly refused to comply with officers’ directions to drop the chainsaw.

After a short standoff, the woman dropped the chainsaw and ran from the area.

She was located a short distance from the scene, taken into police custody and arrested for two counts of Assault Police Officer.

The female received bail and will appear at a later date.
