Police concerned over approach to child

Hobart Detectives are appealing for assistance from the public in relation to an approach made to a 9 year old boy in Lenah Valley by a male person on Thursday afternoon.

About 4:20pm the boy was walking in Pottery Road when he was approached by a man who asked if he wanted some lollies. The man indicated that the lollies were in his vehicle.

The young boy declined the offer and there was then some minor physical contact between the man and the boy before the boy managed to run away.

The man police are interested in speaking to is described as, 25 – 35 years old, fair complexion, medium build, with a goatee beard and short cropped hair. He was wearing a black t- shirt and dark trousers or shorts.

The man was driving a metallic bronze/gold coloured utility with sides, so probably a flat tray with drop sides and the vehicle was fitted with a bull bar. It is believed that the vehicle is a newish model.

Police are anxious to locate this man and ascertain what his intentions were and are seeking assistance from any member of the public who may have seem this man or vehicle in this vincity or know of a similar vehicle.
