Police Charge Learner Motorcycle Riders With Excessive Speed
Police have charged two learner motorbike riders and confiscated their bikes following an excessive speeding incident in Deloraine last night.
Both riders were intercepted by police after being detected speeding at 131kmph and 111kmph in the 60kmph zone near the cemetery on Emu Bay Road.
The 17-year-old riders from the Deloraine area had their bikes confiscated for a period of 28 days and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
“The riders were both very upset at having their bikes confiscated as they relied on it for transport to work,” said Sergeant Tony Roughan.
“The speeds these riders were doing are dangerous for any rider, and even more so for inexperienced riders on their learners licence.”
