At 4pm today, a woman in her twenties has died as a result of a two vehicle crash on the Murchison Highway at Waratah.

The woman driver was the sole occupant of a silver Nissan Pulsar which was travelling in a northerly direction and has collided with a white Toyota Land cruiser travelling south.

The male driver and only occupant of the Land cruiser sustained suspected leg injuries; he is in a stable condition and has been conveyed to the NWRH for treatment.

The Murchison highway remains closed whilst crash investigators and forensic officers examine the scene.  The road is due to be open within the hour.

The female driver is yet to be formally identified.
