Police apprehend wanted couple from New South Wales
A man and a woman from New South Wales are in custody following an incident on the Bass Highway, between Heybridge and Don, earlier today.
A stolen black Ford Falcon XR8 ute evaded police on the Bass Highway, Heybridge, around 11am. Police successfully disabled the ute by deploying road spikes and followed the ute at a distance until it stopped on Forth Road, Don.
A 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and are currently being held at the Devonport Police Station while investigations are being conducted. Both occupants were wanted by New South Wales Police and Tasmania Police for a number of matters.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the Ford Falcon ute driving on the Bass Highway between Ulverstone and Devonport, and on Cutts Road and Forth Road, in the Don area. In particular, police are seeking dash cam footage of the ute.
