Police appeal to those who ‘know’ about Marrawah murder
Two years on from the murder of Marrawah man Simon Crisp, police are renewing their appeal for those who know who is responsible to come forward.
Police continue to believe that there are people who know who was responsible for the murder but for personal reasons have so far felt unable to provide this information to police.
Detective Acting Inspector Richard Chugg said:
“Personal circumstances change over time and we’re asking those who know who murdered Mr Crisp or who know information that could help the investigation to reconsider their position and provide the vital evidence we need to progress this investigation.
“Information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers – you will not be asked for your name and nobody will ever know who provided the information.”
Mr Crisp (aged 44) was fatally shot at the rear of the Marrawah Tavern in the early hours of Saturday 13 July 2013.
His death has been the subject of an intensive police investigation since that time.
Detective Chugg added:
“The investigation will remain open until the matter is resolved and the person or people responsible are brought before the court.
“There has been no new information received in recent times that has not previously been examined by investigators.
“Investigators have spoken to hundreds of people in relation to the matter and the local community has been of great assistance,” he said.
There continues to be a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or people responsible for the murder.
Anyone with information which could assist Tasmania Police with their enquiries should contact Burnie Criminal Investigation Branch on 03 64 345291 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
