Police appeal for info re dangerous driving
Police are appealing for information after a blue Magna station wagon hit a pedestrian and then rammed a police car before the driver fled on foot into bushland in Sidmouth in the West Tamar Valley on Tuesday night.
A 61-year-old woman pedestrian suffered minor injuries when the magna failed to give way to her at Low Head at about 7pm.
When police tried to intercept the vehicle at Sidmouth at about 8pm the driver rammed the bright blue Magna into the police car before fleeing on foot.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Dwayne Kirkby said:
“This was very dangerous driving.
“The pedestrian could have been seriously injured.
“The driver has deliberately rammed the police car and put others at serious risk in order to avoid arrest,” he said.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have seen the Magna being driven in the George Town or Sidmouth areas during the early evening to contact with police.
Anybody with any information is encouraged to contact the George Town Police Station on 63 824040 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
