The Northern Criminal Investigation Branch continue to investigate up to 12 deliberately lit scrub fires that occurred alongside the the Tasman Highway between Launceston and Scottsdale on Saturday.

A suspect vehicle believed to be an older model green sedan, similar to a Magna, was observed travelling from the Scottsdale area towards Launceston on the morning of the fires. CIB Detectives are very keen to identify the occupant/s of this vehicle.

Witnesses also reported seeing a male person riding a yellow motor cycle on the Tasman Highway on Saturday morning in the area the fires started and CIB seek the identity of this person.
