Planned police exercises – UTAS Stadium, Launceston
If you’re in the Launceston’s UTAS Stadium tomorrow morning and see a heightened level of police about – don’t be alarmed.
Tasmania Police will conduct a series of active armed offender exercises at the stadium every Wednesday for the next 5 weeks (March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 March), starting tomorrow. The exercise will be held from 10am to approximately 1pm.
Tasmania Police wishes to advise members of the public that they may see an increased police presence in the area of UTAS Stadium and may also hear simulated gun fire.
“The exercise provides an excellent opportunity for emergency services to practice and refine their response to any emergency, in what will be a safe environment to do so,” Senior Constable Kriss Lawler said.
“On behalf of everyone involved, we thank the public for their cooperation and understanding while we conduct this necessary training exercise.”
