If you’re near Launceston CBD tomorrow morning and see a heightened level of police about – don’t be alarmed.

Tasmania Police will tomorrow conduct the final in a series of active armed offender exercises in the vicinity of St John St from approximately 10am-4pm.

Inspector Gary Williams said that members of the public may see an increased police presence in the area of St John St and may also hear simulated gun fire.

“The exercise provides an excellent opportunity for emergency services to practice and refine their responses to real emergencies, in what will be a lifelike but safe environment to do so,” Inspector Williams said.

“On behalf of everyone involved, we thank the public for their cooperation and understanding while we conduct this necessary training exercise.”
