Person arrested at East Tamar Highway traffic operation
A woman was arrested at a random breath testing site on the East Tamar Highway yesterday afternoon, after being caught driving while disqualified.
The high visibility police operation was conducted at the intersection of the Bridport Highway, with 110 drivers breath tested.
North East Division Inspector Ruth Orr said police were pleased no drink drivers were detected, but it was disappointing one person did return a positive oral fluid test for drugs.
“The driver who was arrested has also had her Holden sedan seized and impounded indefinitely,” she said.
“She will be proceeded against for several traffic-related matters.”
“Police across Tasmania are committed to keeping people safe on our roads through operations like this, and our normal patrols, but we really need the community’s support,” she said.
“Please don’t take any risks if you’re traveling on our roads, and if you see dangerous driving occurring report it to police immediately on 131 444.”
“If you can’t report it at the time, but you have footage, you can report it by uploading to our website.”
