People charged after North-West fires

At about 1330 on Thursday 21st January 2016 reports were received in relation to fire activity in Preolenna, Calder, Mawbanna and Rosebery.  Further reports were subsequently received of fires at Black River and Lorinna.

 

As a result of police investigations, 2 x youths, aged 13 and 14 years, are to be dealt with by youth diversion for allegedly lighting a fire at Black River on 21st January.

 

Further police enquiries identified an additional two persons who will be summonsed to appear in court as a result of allegedly lighting fires in Rosebery contrary to the Total Ban in the last 48 hours

 

There has been no confirmation of any persons being injured or of property loss as a result of the fires.
