Pedestrian hit by train
Approximately 11.50pm on Monday 28 February 2011 a southbound train collided with a pedestrian on the level crossing at Albert Road between Station and Gatehouse Streets Moonah.
The pedestrian was a 23 year old female from Moonah.
The pedestrian was struck on the railway line and has become trapped in the vicinity of the left wheels.
The train had four engine carriages attached, two of which were running at the time of the collision.
Emergency Services personnel were able to free the victim and she was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
The road was closed for 4 hours before re-opening.
Police would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision.
