Pedestrian crash-Faraday Street, Ravenswood

At 2:25pm on Saturday 29th of July 2017 Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police were called to what was reported as a crash involving a pedestrian at Goldie Court, Ravenswood.

 

On attending the scene is was quickly established that the pedestrian had been pushing another vehicle when he was struck by a vehicle. From investigations it appeared that the driver involved had deliberately struck him with the vehicle he was driving before leaving the scene. The incident appeared to involve people who were known to each other.

 

Launceston Uniform, Road and Public Order Services, Crash Investigation Services, Northern Forensic Services, and Northern Criminal Investigation Branch attended.

 

The pedestrian was taken to the Launceston General Hospital by Ambulance Tasmania and received treatment for nonlife threatening injures.

 

Shortly after the incident 50 year old Ravenswood man was taken into custody. He was charged with assault, and appeared in an after hours court sitting. He was remanded in custody and will re-appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 2:15pm on Monday the 31st of July 2017.
