Pedestrian Accident, Mount Street, Burnie

At approximately 0940 hrs, 20/9/2014, Burnie Police responded to the report of a young child having been hit by a moving vehicle in Mount Street Burnie, outside the Centro Complex.

Ambulance Tasmania attended the scene and provided initial treatment before the child was conveyed to the North West Regional Hospital for treatment and observation.

The 4 yr old child had run from his parents, who were a short distance away, and had run into the path of a silver Hyundai Getz being driven north on Mount Street by a 44 yr old Burnie woman.

Police would like to thank witnesses at the scene who provided assistance with care for the child and the initial traffic control.

The child is in a satisfactory condition in the North West Regional Hospital at Burnie.
