Launceston flood update – 9 p.m.
Police and SES are continuing to monitor to water levels and flood levies in the South and North Esk Rivers. The Tamar River at Launceston is expected to peak between 3 to 7am
Launceston flood advice
Tasmania Police wish to advise residents of the Invermay and Inveresk areas in Launceston that flood waters in the North and South Esk Rivers continue to rise and that there is a possibility that the evacuation of low lying areas may be required.
Longford flooding
Flood levels in the Longford area continue to rise, with an expected peak around 6.00pm this evening.
Police recruit graduation course
44 new police constables have graduated from the Tasmania Police Academy after completing a demanding 35 week police recruit course.
Road weather alerts
A road weather alert has been issued for Tasmanian Roads by the Bureau of Meteorology advising that heavy rain may cause slippery driving conditions, flash flooding and reduced visibility in the state.
Serious crash Tasman Highway
Approximately 5.20pm on Tuesday the 22nd of March, 2011 a blue Daihatsu Charade crashed into a power pole on the Tasman Highway, Sorell.
Murder – suicide at Dynnyrne
Police found the bodies of two people in their twenties when they were called to a unit in Baintree Avenue last night.

At 7.30 pm on Tuesday 22 March 2011 Police were called to a report of a pedestrian knocked down on the Midland Highway at Mangalore.
Tractor fatality
A 74 year old man has died after being crushed by his tractor at a Tea Tree property.
Extra demand on helicopter rescue services
There has been an increase in the use of the helicopter rescue service which has resulted in additional costs.
