Tasmania Police has confirmed that two employees of the Mount Lyell mine at Queenstown have died in a workplace incident today.

Fatal Motor Cycle Crash – Beaconsfield
At about 11am on Sunday, 8 December 2013 a Honda 600cc motorcycle travelling north on Margaret Street, Beaconsfield has collided with a Holden utility. The 47 year old rider of the motorcycle from Beaconsfield died at the scene.
Arson Related Apprehensions – New Norfolk
At 3:30pm on Saturday 7 December 2013, the Tasmania Fire Service and Police personnel were called to attend a structure fire at Royal Derwent, George Street, New Norfolk. As a result of investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Branch and the quality information provided by the local community, the identities of the three people responsible for the arson were quickly established.
Fatal Motor Cycle Crash – Claremont
A 58 year old man from Old Beach has died and a 17 year old female injured after a single vehicle motor cycle crash on the Brooker Highway at Claremont on Saturday the 7th day of December 2013 at 4:10pm.

Launceston CIB detectives have charged a 22-year-old Launceston man with the armed robbery of the Wellington Street Newsagency on 21 November 2013.
Arrest in Relation to the Theft of Live seafood
On Wednesday the 4th December 2013, a 34-year-old man from Warrane and a 37-year-old man from Goodwood were charged in relation to the theft of live crayfish from a seafood processing business in Cambridge on the 2nd December 2013.
