P Plater fined for high range speeding at Lower Barrington
An 18 year old P Plater has been fined, disqualified and had her vehicle clamped after being detected travelling at 140kmh on Sheffield Road at Lower Barrington this morning.
The Sheffield woman was detected travelling in a northerly direction on Sheffield Road in a white 2009 Subaru Impreza when she was detected by police patrolling in the area.
She was fined $1,121.25, lost 6 Demerit Points and was disqualified for 4 months.
The vehicle will also be clamped.
Inspector Adam Spencer says that it takes about 160m on average to stop in dry conditions which equates to several seconds.
“You just don’t have that especially when you are travelling at speed…the consequences in a crash are catastrophic,” he said.
