A 44 year old North West man and member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang has been charged following a serious assault incident in Devonport on 1 June.

Police received a call to assist ambulance at an address in Devonport, where a 38 year man had sustained serious head injuries on 1 June.

As a result of an investigation, police attended a Leith residence yesterday where a 44 year old man was arrested.

A search by warrant was conducted of the address and police located a revolver, a stolen motor vehicle, some stolen power tools and a quantity of drugs.

The man was charged with aggravated armed robbery, Criminal Code assault, Possess firearm when not the holder of an appropriate licence, Fail to ensure the safe keeping of a firearm, Possess firearm in contravention of a firearms prohibition notice, Possess controlled drug, Unlawful possession x 3.

The man was detained to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court today.

A 39 year old man was also charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery and Criminal Code Assault in relation to the alleged incident and attended an after hours court on 17 July where he was granted bail with conditions.

“We will continue to target people who are members of criminal organisations that deal in firearms crime and distribute drugs and illicit substances, which cause significant harm to the community,” Detective Inspector Kim Steven said.
