Outlaw motorcycle gang member charged after strip club incident
An outlaw motorcycle gang member has been charged following an incident outside a Launceston strip club in which two other men were sprayed with capsicum spray.
A 46 year old member of the Launceston Chapter of the Outlaws motorcycle gang has been charged with two counts of common assault, unlawfully possessing and using a dangerous article in a public place and committing a nuisance.
Police were called to a disturbance outside the Launceston Showgirls strip club in Tamar St about 1.15am on Sunday 17 June, after a man and a crowd controller were allegedly assaulted by the Outlaws member with capsicum spray.
Police believe the man was in the company with other outlaw motorcycle gang members immediately before the incident.
The capsicum spray affected a number of patrons and workers at the premises. People suffered secondary exposures, with one woman needing attention by attending ambulance personnel due to breathing difficulties.
As a result of an investigation conducted by Northern Road and Public Order Services, the man was identified, arrested and charged.
The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 29 August.
