Operations Crossroads – Update (23-Dec)
The Christmas Holiday Road Toll reporting period is from 00:01 hours on Monday, 23 December till 23:59 hours on Friday, 3 January 2014.
A joint police operation in conjunction with Transport Inspectors will be conducted at Perth in Northern Tasmania this morning with a particular focus on inattention, drink driving and vehicle defects.

This has been a good start to Operation Crossroads so far with only three drink drivers detected compared to 11 the same time last year (-72%). However the number of speeding offences (+37%) and infringement notices issued (+60%) have increased compared to last year. Fortunately the start of the season has been fatality free on our roads.
