Operation Crossroads Easter Road Safety
The message is not tired; fatigue is dangerous.
Whether your journey this Easter is 20 minutes, two hours or two days, Police state-wide are urging you not to drive if you feel drowsy.
The Easter Road Toll reporting period began at 0001 Thursday 28th March and concludes at 1159 on 1st April 2013.
“Last Easter there were no fatal crashes on Tasmanian roads, however there were 5 serious injury crashes and that’s 5 too many,” said Commissioner, Darren Hine.
“Operation Crossroads is a national based operation given the full support of every police jurisdiction in Australia.
“We all work towards the same goal, a fatality-free and serious injury-free Easter. We have our resources conducting high profile traffic operations targeting high-risk driving behaviours and we ask that you all take your role in road safety seriously.
“The risks are not worth taking, the breaks are. If you are feeling at all sleepy or drowsy, pull over and rest,” he said.
Tasmania Police will be conducting state-wide traffic operations, to ensure your Easter weekend is as safe as possible.
