Tasmania Police will continue to target the fatal five in order to reduce serious and fatal crashes on the states road.  Speed, distraction, fatigue, seatbelts, alcohol and drugs.

Our enforcement and education activities are conducted 365 days a year.

If you mix drugs and or alcohol with driving, you will get caught.  If you speed, you will get caught.

Please think about others before placing yourself or those around you at risk.  Don’t become a statistic.

In the states north yesterday a vehicle detected speeding on Midland Highway deliberately evaded police on two separate occasions. The vehicle was later located unoccupied in Waverley and was confiscated.  Investigations are continuing.

A Devonport driver was detected travelling at 37 km/h over the posted speed limit in the Latrobe area yesterday.  They also returned a positive Oral Fluid Test.

These random acts of stupidity can have grave consequences.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep the roads safe.  As you return home from your Christmas holiday please take your time.  Stop if you are tired and pay attention.
