A police officer is to be proceeded against by summons for a traffic offence on the Frankford Highway on 23 April 2016.

The officer, from the Northern District, will be charged with Negligent Driving.

The male officer was on patrol in a marked police vehicle on Frankford Highway, Glengarry, when he allegedly overtook a group of cyclists who were approaching a junction and indicating to turn right.

The officer remains on operational duties.

He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 12 December 2016.
