A Constable from southern Tasmania is to be proceeded against by summons for an offence under the Firearms Act 1996.

The 34 year old man will be charged with the offence of “being in possession of ammunition and failing to take all reasonable precautions to ensure that the ammunition is kept safely”.

It will be alleged the Constable was in possession of a small amount of ammunition at his home.

The officer remains on operational duty and will appear in court at a later date.
